Bucharest

Notes From Kev

We learned a lot in Bucharest. The huge, still partially uncompleted, Parliament building is the product of their former communist regime as is their poor man's versions of the Champs-Elysees and Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The city is filled with giant apartment buildings that span multiple blocks and all look the same. It is also filled with abandoned buildings that nobody has claimed since the fall of communism. There are numerous buildings with giant advertisement banners hanging down the side.

Not-so-fun-fact: A giant, extravagant church is being built using taxpayer dollars and the citizens have no idea how much the project is costing. It was also supposed to have been completed two years ago. Needless to say, they're not very happy about it.

Side note: We discovered a cool, high-tech laundromat and Christina's happy place; a Korean market with BTS cut-outs and K POP playing over the speakers!

Overall Score: 5
